Collector Being Arrested After Avoiding Sales Tax On As Many As 150 Cars

The Nebraska State Patrol has executed a number of search warrants related to buildings in Syracuse, NE and a collector’s home in Lincoln. They’ve also issued an arrest warrant for the collector himself. Mark Pieloch, 52, is being sought after for felony willful avoidance of sales tax on as many as 150 collector cars.
A six-month investigation led to today’s events and despite a number of the cars being registered in South Dakota, Nebraska law states that if the vehicles are stored within Nebraska itself, sales tax must be paid.
His collection is comprised of American muscle and sports cars from all eras stored in museum-like warehouses. No word on if his possession of any of these vehicles will be compromised.
Pieloch is reportedly on his way back to Nebraska to turn himself in.
